SEEKING CONFIRMATION.
from "The History of the Clan Macrae" book, page 281. Chapter XX1.
"There is a tradition to the effect that after the defeat of Montrose at Philiphaugh, near Selkirk, on 12th September, 1645, two Highland brothers of the name of Macrae who served in his army, sought refuge in Galloway because it was the nearest place where Gaelic was then spoken. Is anyone able to confirm who were the parents/linage of these two Macrae brothers?
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Rhonda
