My grandmother, Mary Love MacRae, was born in Paisley, Scotland on 9 Aug. 1880. I am having difficulty finding her ancestors and need your help badly. Her mother was Jean F. Malcolm (1849 - 1899) and her father was John MacRae, who died in 1919, somewhere in Northeast U.S. John MacRae had a twin brother named James MacRae. I do not know when or where John and James were born in Scotland, or who their parents were. I have not found a passenger list on any ship that they might have arrived on. My mother said that Mary told her that her family were shipbuilders in Scotland.
Mary had two brothers: John Angus MacRae (b. 1887 in Paisley, Scotland and d. in 1897); and William MacRae (b. 1992 in Paisley, Scotland).
Mary and her family arrived in the U.S. in 1886. I would love to find out what happened to Jean F. Malcolm and her husband John MacRae, and who their parents were.
In 1906, in New York, Mary Love MacRae married Nino Fernando Tetamo, a prominent maestro who was born in Palermo, Italy in 1867. They had 3 children, and my mother was the eldest. Mary adopted the name of Aeolia Tetamo during her lifetime in the U.S., probably because she was a classical singer and a musician -- part of a large group of singers, musicians, and writers thru my grandfather, Signor Tetamo. Mary died in 1981 and is buried in Litchfield, Connecticut, USA.
Please help me with my MacRae and Malcolm ancestors. I was raised to be very proud of my Scottish heritage, but was too young to ask the right questions before my mother and Granny died. Thank you so very much!
