I was looking around this web site for an up coming trip to Scotland. I saw reference to a place called Corriefeol in Wester Ross. There is a picture on this site posted by Kyle Mcallister who states his relative Jessie MacRae lived here in 1814. I was trying to establish if any of my family line were from this area also. If so I would like to visit it.

My G,G,G grandfather Farquhar MacRae (b.1801 Married Barbara Mclennan) came to Australia from Scotland in 1837 on "The William Nicol". He was bron in Kintail but not sure where he lived before coming to Australia. His parents were John and Christina MacRae.

If any one can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My GGGGrandfather Alexander was at Corriefeol in 1800 and possibly for a few years before that. Do you have a particular reason for thinking that your family are connected? Corriefeol is at the head of Strathconon, which runs due west from near Muir of Ord. It is long but beautiful drive up to the head where you have to leave your car at the public car park. Follow the road round the the left as it passes the loch and in a mile or so you will see Corriefeol on the left.

I have a great, great grandfather who was born in Kintail and I don't have his first name or birthdate, but he dies in 1898 I think. But it appears the family came to Quebec, Canada (Ste-Urbain. My great grandfather's name was Donald and he married Janet Gordon and one of the children was named Farquhar (1872-1872)lived 3 mos. Anyway I'm not sure your Farquhar couldn't be related or not.

Thanks

Hello Deanna ... it looks like we have a common ancestor here. Donald Macrae is my great great grandfather as well!
