Hello,
My g,g,g grandfather was Alexander McCra of Short Beach, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. I have discovered that his father was John McCra of Halifax, and a founding member of The Scots, The North British Society in 1768. Using the Scotlands People website I think John McCra may have been born in the Moulin area of Perthshire. About 1850 or so the family added the e to their surname McCrae. I would be interested in hearing from other decedents of John McCra. Also, I have put together a report of my research, a copy of which can be accessed in Canada through the National Library and in Scotland from the A K Bell Library in Perth. (Alexander McCra of Short Beach)
Cheers,
Douglas
