Hi. I am looking for any information about Duncan McRae, who died around 1898. During his lifetime he was the first constable in the Bootle area of Liverpool, England and had a huge portrait hanging in the Town Hall for many years. My research has revealed that he was born in Chorlton-Cum-Hardy in Manchester, England. As I am confident that I have located all of his family line from that point I am particularly interested in information about his wife & parents etc.

Cheers!

Peter,
I am descended from Duncan McRae's daughter Ann. My grandfather was Duncan McRae Olsen and he had Duncan McRae's tipstaff, which he presented to Bootle Town Hall circa 1957. I am intrigued that you have a birth for him in Chorlton-cum Hardy, as a cousin of mine has traced his birth to Scotland. (We had a family tradition that he was from Stornoway, but research has put this in doubt.) I wonder if we have the same ancestor?
