Looking for confirmation of marriage between Donald McRae and Janet MacRae. He was born abt 1794 Glenshiel,Ross,Scotland. She was born abt 1795 died 29.4.1860 Stroud NSW Australia. She came on the ship "Asia" with her two sons. DOnald apparently had died. I am also looking to confirm her children were Christopher born 1817 Inverness, Duncan 1825 Rosshire.
Thanks Pam McRae ( pamelamcrae@bigpond.com)

Hi Pam,

I have been searching my McRae's. They came on the Asia with your ancestors and I wondered if there were related. My family were Donald McRae who married Elizabeth Moffat (both buried Stroud). Donald's parents were John McRae and Flora McRae, and Flora's line is documented in the Clan History but I'm trying to find who John's parents were. This is why I thought he might be connected to your Donald and Janet.

If you look on the family search website there is a birth of Duncan in 1821 to Donald Roy Macrae and Jennat Macrae and I would be pretty sure this is your Duncan. The shipping record also has a Donald and Christopher but the details say they are the sons (I think this is a mistake)

Christopher's death on NSW BDM has parents as Donald and Jane and if you look at his obituary in the Maitland Mercury in 1880(at newspapers.nla.gov.au) it confirms that he came with his mother and 2 brothers.

I hope this is of some help and hope to hear your thoughts about a possible connection to my family.

Best wishes, Ann

Hi Pam,

Just a correction to my previous reply. I must have deleted the end of a sentence. Donald and Christopher were listed on the shipping as sons of Donald and Janet living in Rosshire, no mention of Janet being a widow on board.
Cheers, Ann
