Hello. I feel like I struck gold today by finding such an elaborate and thorough site dedicated to one lineage. My husband's family name passed down (not surname anymore) is McRae. My daughter Addy has it as well. Anyhow, we live in NC now but my husband is from Michigan and his grandfather (Eugene John Watt) and his brother William McRae Watt were born near the Canadian border to Watt parents. I am having difficulty finding the DIRECT link with the Watt/Moran family to the McCrae family but I do have an old drawn out family tree of the Chissolms, of whom several married McCraes. They are the original owners of the estates in Inverness-shire starting with Alexander Chissolm. I was told that Annie Chissolm married a Duncan Ban McCrae and one son named John had a son named William McCrae...but I don't really have dates and my tree stops there, until we come into 1907. That's a huge gap and I hope someone can help. I do know that some of the McCraes came over on the Pearl ship and others and that many ended up in Ontario. But I don't know who married into the Watt/Moran family. Thank you. And thank you Misty for mentioning the book about NC, since I live in Raleigh the book should be available.
