	Hello - As a MacDonnell (of the W. Isles...Islay & Antrim) I would like to lend a hand & maybe give some joy to someone. I bought a pic. frame at an auction in Colac Vic. which has a Clan McCrae gathering photo of around 1900-1910? (about 50 males, men & boys, many great highland outfits, etc)- on back it is to go from Geelong to "Camperdown Railway Station" - just west of Colac I presume. Could be a gathering in Scotland judging by the outfits sent out to a homesick McRae 'pioneer'? Or local & printed in Geelong? Someone may know about this "clan" photo? Or if interested anyway, plse let me know & I'll try to scan to you.(maybe too big) Send this to the Aust. president plse. Would be interesting to post on your site. I have not taken the frame apart yet to see what maybe on the back of the photo or mounts?? I am in Melbourne - 03 96450184. 	Hello fellow Macrae/McRaes, I have recently begun researching our particular McRae family. John'Roy'McRae and his wife Mary McLennan arrived in Australia in 1853. John was the son of Duncan (Donnacha Sealgair) McRae and Margaret McRae from the Kintail and Lochbroom areas in Scotland. I have very few details of John and Mary's history in Scotland, and sketchy details only of the generations preceding them. Are there any other descendants of these McRae families out there who may be able to help me please? I would be most grateful for any information about the early Macrae/McRaes, as well as any interesting stories/events pertaining to any of the McRae generations in our line of descendancy. 	Howdy All - My name is Damien MacRae and currently live in Sydney Australia. My father is John David MacRae (born Port Kembla Australia) and his father was Robert Duncan MacRae. I believe Robert was born in Tain, Scotland (approx. 1899), lived most of his life in Beauley, Scotland. Robert moved to Australia in 1920's. 	My Alexander McRae (farmer) married Ann Beaton, abt 1835. Their daughter Hellen was born abt 1837, Lochalsh, Scotland. They emigrated to Australia abt 1838 & settled around Cobbity (1844 to 1851), Liverpool ( 1850's) Mittagong/Nattai ( 1860 to 1883). Had a further 8 known children. Ones known are: Catherine, Mary, Patrick - married Mary Loughnane, Flora, William, Possibly also John & Alexander. Alexander died in 1883 - his father was a John McRae. Unknown when Ann died. 	Can any other MacRae's help me please??? I am a descendant of Colin MacRae born 1766 in Kintail, Ross, Scotland. His father was Farquhar MacRae & Mother, Mary ?. Their daughter, Elizabeth MacRae was born Abt 1795 and married Donald Munro born 11 Jan 1788 in Dingwall, Scotland. They emigrated to Australia in 1839 aboard the "Asia". I am having great trouble tracing the MacRae's back as I am getting different information on dates and names. Would really like to get the ancestors correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 	Hi all Macraes, Trying to trace my Great Great Grandfather Donald Macrae probably born between 1784 to 1794. We know my Great Great Grandmother Janet Mcrae b 1795 married him 14/10/1813 Glenshiel and came to Australia aboard the Asia in 1839 as a widow with three sons Donald b 1814, Christopher b 1816, and Duncan b 1825. We think the eldest son Donald b 1814 was deceased early shortly after arriving in Australia as he did not settle with the rest of the family in Stroud. Maybe he went his own way and settled elsewhere. We just don't know. Both Christopher and Duncan lived, married and died in Stroud, NSW. We can trace Janet back to her father John Macrae who married a Mary Grant and then John's father is a Farqhar Macrae who married a Helen Grant. We can't trace Janet's husband who was a Donald Macrae and we think he died before Janet came to Australia. Any help greatfully accepted. 	ANY information sort please: I am a 5th generation McRae here in South Australia. I am looking for ANY information about John McRae, supposedly born 2 Feb 1822 Scotland, and allegedly came to Australia in 1836 aboard the ABBERTON or perhaps ALBERTON. No solid information known, and perhaps may never been known... Of the the Original John McRae, there are 600 odd decendents scattered far and wide around Australia. I, along with my ancestors made Hawker in the Flinders Ranges the McRae home since 1880, and before that, Arkaba Station I believe around 1857.. Lots of Relatives around Alice Springs in the NT etc... Someone must have some (ANY) information, so that I can hopefully fill in the missing spots with the large family tree undertaking. Och! 	Hello-My name is Martin D'Arcy and my mothers maiden name is Eileen Mary McRae. I would like to find out more information for the family tree prior to the move to Australia in the 1800's. I am a descendants of Duncan McRae who was born 1812 in Scotland, and died March 24, 1862 in Scoresby Victoria. He married MARY 'JESSIE' MCLENNAN February 07, 1835 in Kirkton, Lochlash, Ross And Cromarty, Scotland, daughter of JOHN MACLENNAN and MARY MACKENZIE. If anyone can help that would be fantastic. 	Hi, My name is Nancy Jeffery Ne Lyall, my father's family were Macraes, I'm uncertain where the Lyall came in. I live in Darwin, previously from the Barossa Valley. I have noticed in the Darwin phone book many "Lyall's" perhaps some are distant relatives. If anyone has any knowledge etc of the "Lyall" connection I'd love to hear. 	Hello to all, I am doing research of MacRae on my wife's side. My wife's grandfather was Jock Macrae, married to Agnes May Keene. He was born in Scotland, immigrated to NSW Australia and married there (possibly in Randwick a suburb of Sydney). Agnes May Keene was born in Austrlia (possibly in Randwick). My wife remenbers that he had a brother named Alec, and a sister named Mary. They lived in Malabar (also a suburb of Sydney). I believe Jock died about 1954. 	Hope that someone can help with the following line. Rev Finlay MacRae born in 1792 married Isabella Maria. (Clan History p 226) A number of children but looking down the line of their third son Duncan MacRae who was born at Vallay, North Uist in 1829. He married and at some stage he went to Australia. He died there in 1866. He had two sons called Duncan and Finlay. Looking to make contact with any descendants of either of these two men. 	Looking for confirmation of marriage between Donald McRae and Janet MacRae. He was born abt 1794 Glenshiel,Ross,Scotland. She was born abt 1795 died 29.4.1860 Stroud NSW Australia. She came on the ship "Asia" with her two sons. DOnald apparently had died. I am also looking to confirm her children were Christopher born 1817 Inverness, Duncan 1825 Rosshire. 	Hello to all. I am hoping somebody can help me with my search of my line of MacRaes. I have been searching for John (john of coilrie) mcrae born about 1755 and married christina macrae and possibly a mary as well. Iam descended from his youngest son Farquhar MacRae who married first a Flora MacRae and then Barbara MacLennan. They left Scotland and came to Australia on the William Nicol in 1837. As far as I know we are descended from John Breac MacRae born 1614 but I have not been able to make all the connections. 	My name is Dianne (nee) Cormack. My g Grandfather was George CORMACK who came to NZ in 1875. In 1880 he married Grace MACKIE. One of their children was Rosetta May CORMACK born 16/10/1894. She married Ian MACRAE. The cildren I have for them are: John, Cormack, Norman. The latter being twins. When I came across your site I was interested in the George Cormack MACRAE born in Edendale in 1924. Mother died when he was 4. Sent to Norfolk Island to live with aunt then to Dingwall in Auckland for rest of his childhood. I have been trying to trace my CORMACK forebears in NZ.
