Archive: An Auspicious Occasion!
13th November 2003
Marigold Elizabeth MacRae celebrated her 75th Birthday on November 13th, 2003.

She is the only daughter of George Henry Tritton, who was a director of the family banking firm of Barclays, Bevan and Tritton, now known as Barclays. She was named Marigold due to her shining blond locks!

Between the ages of three and nine she lived in London but always preferred the country. She met her husband, John MacRae of Ballimore and 24th Constable of Eilean Donan Castle, on the Isle of Skye when she was 18, and they married in 1950. She is the devoted mother of 5 daughters and has 20 grandchildren to whom she dedicates much of her time.

The Clan MacRae is very important to her and she has travelled extensively to promote the Clan. She has always enjoyed meeting people and entertaining them at Eilean Donan, where, in the past ten years, she has been active in improving the attractions to visitors and members of the Clan MacRae. The rest of her busy life is mainly taken up with charity work and her many hobbies that include working her labradors, fly fishing and travelling.

Marigold is regarded with considerable affection and respect by MacRaes around the world and we take this opportunity to send her our very Best Wishes and to wish her many more happy and active years.
