Elizabeth McRae, daughter of the Clan MacRae Society of North Americas newsletter editor, has graduated from St. Andrews University with an MA in International Relations.
My time at St. Andrews has come to an end, the Vice-Chancellor of the University hit me over the head with a cap that was supposedly made from John Knoxs trousers, said some Latin, and then sent me into the big, wide world said Elizabeth.
Elizabeth admitted to coming to Scotland with some pre-conceived notions, like a strange sense of humour and driving on the wrong side of the road, but was not prepared for such things as the lack of really good peanut butter!
During her time in Scotland, Elizabeth saw the changeover to smoke-free pubs, the war in Iraq, the 2004 presidential election, the popes funeral, Charles and Camillas marriage blessing and the 2006 Olympics, experiences which she says were interesting to see through another cultures eyes.
Now all I have to do is re-adjust to driving on the right side of the road!
