Eduardo Macrae was the Grand Marshall of the Tartan Day Parade that took place on 8th April 2006 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Ernesto Ortner carried the symbolic key of the gate of Arbroath remembering the "Declaration of Arbroath" of 1320 that inspired this celebration.
Scottish Argentines remembered their heritage with the participation of the Buenos Aires Scottish Guard, the Buenos Aires Scottish Club, the Highland Heritage Society and an invited Galician pipe band, the Banda de Gaitas Ciudad de Buenos Aires. The parade began at 2.30pm from the Yacht Club Puerto Madero and went around Dock 4 for 16 blocks with marchers carrying tartan banners and flags. The 220 Scottish immigrants who arrived in the frigate "Symmetry" in 1825 were remembered next to Cecilia Grierson bridge and a bouquet of flowers was thrown into the water while the Scottish Guard made a military salute.
