17 Jul 2005: Rally veteran drives to emotional vic
Sunday 17 July 2005
The Albar Turf Subaru Impreza of the late Alan Barr, the Glasgow rally driver who died after suffering a heart attack during the Border Rally in April, was driven to an emotional victory once again by veteran rally driver Jimmy McRae this weekend in the 2005 UK Rally Challenge at Knockhill.

Jimmy, himself five times British Rally Champion and father of World Rally Champion Colin McRae, took the lead from John and Jim Rintoul on stage ten of the eighteen stage event and held on to it until the end. Jimmy was asked to drive the car as a tribute to Alan, and stated that the win was a fitting way to mark the memory of "a terrific stalwart of rallying in Scotland".

Jimmy was co-driven by Alan's widow, Moira Barr, who received the Albar Trophy during an emotional presentation ceremony at the end of the day.
