Further to the removal of tolls (see Skye Bridge Tolls Removed
), the volume of traffic crossing the Skye Bridge has increased by more than a third since they were scrapped in December.
Executive figures show that in January an average of 1728 vehicles crossed the bridge each day compared with 1455 in January 2004. In February, 2223 vehicles crossed each day compared with 1623 in February 2004.
The removal of the tolls is clearly resulting in an increase in the number of vehicles crossing and this must benefit Skye and Lochalsh and the Western Isles.
