The annual family, multi cultural festival Howick in the Park was held at Howick Domain on Saturday 31st January 2004. This festival has been held for the past 8 years to welcome in the Asian New Year and attracts large crowds. Each year a different theme is featured and for 2004 the theme was Scottish with a Burns flavour as it fell near Robbie Burns birthday. Clan Donnachaidh were involved in organising the festival.
The programme commenced at midday with a Tattoo with Pipe and Brass Bands, Country and Highland dancers, singers, poetry, Highland Games demonstrations, battle re-enactments, Police dog trials, plus the Haggis ceremony. At 2 pm the tattoo ended with the lone Piper Barry Wallace on the castle tower.
Stalls selling Scottish food and wares were present along with ten Clan Tents and other groups and organisations with a Scottish interest. The Clan MacRae were represented by Sue Tregoweth who carried the clan banner in the Clan March, Heather Hine who carried our crest, Carolyn Priest and Kevin Tregoweth our tent security guard.
The festival also celebrated the Oriental New Year so there were numerous Asian stalls and entertainment.
