Arms are unique to an individual or corporate entity. Although they may be derived from another's, they must be "differenced," that is, changed in some significant way.
The Clan MacRae Society of North America's Arms are adapted from the Arms of MacRae of Inverinate and retain the white field, blue tripe and red stars.
But an eagle's head, a symbol of the United States, has been substituted for the lion rampant; there are more stars, reminiscent of the U.S. flag; and there is a basket-hilted sword and a different type of helmet.
The motto, Latin for "From One to Many" commemorates the "Scattered Children of Kintail."
