Recently a group of Wild MacRaes from North America descended upon Scotland on a 12 day tour. The 37 MacRaes and spouses came from 16 different states within the US and 17 of them were first-timers to Scotland!
Starting in Glasgow and then moving into Stirling with a visit to Sheriffmuir, the group made their way up to Eilean Donan Castle. Jimi the Piper McRae was there to greet the group and piped them over the bridge to the Castle. Miranda Van Lynden also welcomed the group to Eilean Donan. Alex MacKay provided an excellent tour of the castle and right before noon there was a lovely ceremony outside as Fred and Judy McCraw from Fortson, GA, renewed their wedding vows.
That evening all enjoyed a special concert by Jimi in a local pub. The tour then commenced through Ullapool to the Isles of Lewis, Harris, North Uist, Benbecula and South Uist. From there the group took an adventuresome sail through the Sound of Mull to Oban.
The tour ended with two nights on the Isle of Arran and then everyone attended a magnificent performance of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
All who attended this tour are grateful for the warm welcome that we received in Scotland. Thank you for a wonderful time!
