PLACE: GLEN SHIEL
Site of the Battle of Glen Shiel on the 10th June 1719.
For more information, see The Battle of Glen Shiel in the History section.
It is very easy to miss the site of the battle. There is an informal layby about three or four bus lengths, but wooden markers (of which there have been several over the years) often disappear, as have the interpretation boards with a map and a brief history of the area.
The land is owned by the National Trust for Scotland who would have provided the original markers.
The Clan MacRae have started a campaign to try and address this problem. See the Glen Shiel Update page in the MacRae Campaigns section for more details.
